Deborah
Capon was trained in dance by Miss Moyra Gay.
In 1974 she established her own Junior Dance School
in Whitstable. Since that time Miss Capon has
choreographed for Festivals, her own School Shows,
local Pantomimes, Cabarets and Theatre Groups.
Presenting her own Charity Show at Sadlers Wells
Theatre, London in 1977. In 1978 the Junior School
moved to its own premises in Whitstable, on the
site of the present College.
In 1985 Miss Capon became an examiner for the
Modern and Tap Faculties.
She now examines not only in the UK but also in
France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Cyprus, Greece,
Spain and Canada. Miss Capon has been coaching
Teachers and Examiners for the I.S.T.D. for many
years. Having choreographed numerous solos for
Grade work and Medal work for the National Faculty
- she won the Haxell Cup in 1994.
An
invited member of the Modern Theatre Committee
in 1998; upon the division of the Modern and Tap
Faculties in 2002, became a Committee Member and
elected Vice Chairman of the Tap Faculty. A member
of the team for development of Bronze, Silver
and Gold Tap Awards 2003.
Miss Capon regularly lectures at I.S.T.D. Headquarters,
Chichester and at various venues in both the UK
and overseas.
